Where to Berth Your Yacht in Dubai: A Marina Guide
By Jyrki Jaamaa, Managing Director3 min read
Berthing in Dubai is charged per metre, per year, and the marina you choose is one of the biggest recurring decisions of ownership. As an indicative guide, standard berths commonly run around AED 300 to AED 1,000 per metre annually, with premium locations charging more; a 15 metre (roughly 50 foot) yacht therefore pays anywhere from a few thousand to several tens of thousands of dirhams a year. Here is how to think about the choice.
How Dubai berthing works
Marinas price by your yacht's overall length, usually billed annually, with utilities and services on top. Availability varies by size band: berths for mid-size boats are generally easier to find than superyacht berths, and popular marinas hold waiting lists for the most requested lengths. The berth is a real line in your ownership budget, which is why it features in our guide to the cost of owning a yacht in Dubai.
What you are actually choosing
Location and access. How long from your home to the boat, and how long from the berth to open water? A berth you reach in fifteen minutes gets used every week; one across town gets used monthly. Cruising time out of the marina matters just as much for a quick sunset run.
Services and standards. Power and water at the berth, fuel access, security, haul-out and maintenance support nearby. Established marinas with proper infrastructure protect both the boat and its resale value.
Community and amenities. Some marinas are working harbours; others are lifestyle destinations with restaurants and clubs on the boardwalk. Neither is wrong; they suit different owners.
Size fit. Match the marina to the boat. A compact Cap Camarat has far more berthing options than a 60-plus-footer, and if you are still choosing the boat, our size guide is worth reading first, because the berth bill scales with every metre.
Our home: Vida Dubai Marina & Yacht Club
JJ Marine is based at Vida Dubai Marina & Yacht Club on Al Hubob Street in Dubai Marina, in the heart of the city's yachting district. It is where we host viewings and step aboard for sea trials, and Dubai Marina's location puts you on open water quickly with the full boardwalk lifestyle ashore.
Berthing and the bigger picture
Two ways to make the berth work harder. First, professional yacht management keeps the boat maintained, crewed and ready at its berth, so ownership stays effortless. Second, a managed yacht can enter our charter fleet and offset its running costs, berthing included, while you are not aboard.
The JJ Marine view
Choose the berth for how often it will get you on the water, not for prestige alone. A well-located berth is the difference between a yacht that is part of your week and one that is part of your storage costs. Buying a boat and planning the berth together is the smoothest route, and it is exactly how we handle a purchase: tell us what you are planning and we will help with both.
