Yacht Charter in Dubai: The Complete Guide
By Jyrki Jaamaa, Managing Director3 min read
Chartering a yacht in Dubai is the easiest way to enjoy time on the water without owning a boat, and the best way to understand what ownership would feel like. Charter is usually priced by the hour for day trips or by the day for larger crewed yachts, starting from a few thousand dirhams per hour and rising with size and season. Here is how it works and how to choose well.
How charter works
A charter puts a yacht and its crew at your disposal for an agreed period. For a few hours out of Dubai Marina you charter by the hour; for a full day, a weekend or a week aboard a larger yacht you charter by the day or week. The captain and crew run the boat, so you simply enjoy it. You can browse our charter fleet to see the range.
What it costs
As an indicative guide:
- Day boats and smaller yachts are priced per hour, often with a minimum booking.
- Larger motor yachts are priced per day, which suits full-day cruising and entertaining.
- Superyachts are chartered per day or per week, usually plus expenses such as fuel and catering.
The rate depends on the yacht, the season and how long you charter. Longer bookings and quieter periods are better value.
What is included
A crewed charter typically includes the captain and crew, fuel within the agreed cruising area, and use of the yacht and its facilities. Catering, premium drinks and special requests are usually arranged on top. We confirm exactly what is included before you book, so there are no surprises.
Best seasons for cruising
The cooler months, roughly October to April, are the most popular for cruising in Dubai, with comfortable temperatures and calm water. Summer charters remain enjoyable, especially in the early morning and evening, and are often quieter and better value. Beyond Dubai, we also arrange charters in Europe for the Mediterranean season.
Choosing the right yacht
Match the yacht to the occasion. A sunset cruise for a couple, a family day out, a birthday with friends and a corporate event all suit different sizes and layouts. Think about the number of guests, whether you want to swim and use water toys, and whether you want to dine aboard. Our team will steer you to the right boat once we know the plan.
Charter as a route to ownership
Many owners charter first. It is the most reliable way to learn what size and style of yacht genuinely suits you before you buy, and it takes the guesswork out of a first purchase. If you are thinking that way, read our guides to buying your first yacht and how much a yacht costs in Dubai. And if you already own a yacht, chartering it out can offset a large share of your running costs.
The JJ Marine view
A good charter is effortless for the guest and flawless behind the scenes. With four decades on the water in Dubai and a working management operation, we hold both to the same standard. To plan a charter, tell us the occasion and we will match the yacht.
